Excel-like Tables for Confluence Cloud

Identifying Autosave Errors

The Spreadsheet macro requires permission to add attachments in the Confluence space. Without this permission, the macro cannot save its data successfully.

In older versions of the Spreadsheet macro, this permission issue may appear as a generic error:

Newer versions display a more specific message indicating that the required permission is missing.

What to do

  1. Pause your editing. Avoid making more changes until the permission issue has been checked, especially if the page is not saving correctly.

  2. Contact your Confluence space administrator.

  3. Ask the administrator to check whether your account, user group, or team has Add Attachments permission in the affected space.

  4. Ask them to review the space permission settings:

    1. Go to Space settings.

    2. Open Users, then select the relevant group or user.

    3. Select Manage access.

    4. Make sure Add attachments is enabled for the impacted users or group.

  6. Try again after permission is granted. Reopen the page or app content, then try saving again.

Why this happens

  • You may have permission to view or edit the page, but not the separate permission required to add attachments in the space.

  • When the app tries to save its data as an attachment, Confluence blocks that attachment operation.

  • As a result, the app may show a generic message such as “Auto-save failed”, even though the message does not mention attachment permissions.

FAQ

Can I fix this myself? Usually not. Space permissions are typically managed by a space administrator.

Why can I edit the page but still not save? Editing a page and adding attachments are separate permissions in Confluence.
