Calculate duration and assignment units using effort
Gantt Chart Planner helps you to have accurate scheduling and resource assignments using this formula.
“Duration * Assignment units = Effort”
For example, if a task takes one day of effort and its duration is four days, the assignment units of a resource would be 1 / 4 = 25%.
The one rest parameter is automatically calculated when you set two of three parameters.
On the formula above, if you change the duration, either assignment units or effort should be recalculated. Effort mode decides which one will be recalculated.
The table below explains which parameter will be recalculated in each effort mode.
Effort mode | If you revise duration | If you revise units | If you revise effort |
---|---|---|---|
Fixed Duration | Effort is recalculated. | Effort is recalculated. | Units are recalculated. |
Fixed Duration (Effort Driven) | Units are recalculated. | Units are recalculated. | |
Fixed Units | Effort is recalculated. | Effort is recalculated. | Duration is recalculated. |
